Wedding Venues Near San Antonio: A Historic Victorian Mansion in Seguin

Updated: Aug 27

If you have been searching for wedding venues near San Antonio and keep landing on places an hour and a half out into the Hill Country, I want to introduce you to ours. I'm Madison, and I own The Abbott House — an 1895 Victorian mansion at 907 N Austin St in Seguin, about forty minutes east of downtown San Antonio. It is a whole property: a courtyard under the trees, a wide green lawn, a banquet hall with original tin ceilings, and a house full of history that photographs like a dream.

What you get at one of the few historic wedding venues near San Antonio

The house is not the only thing you are booking. Our courtyard holds up to 150 for a ceremony under the trees, with a chandelier hanging over the arch — that is the picture most people save first. The mansion lawn opens up to 200 if you want a bigger crowd, and the banquet hall seats 120 with tin ceilings and chandeliers for dinner and dancing when the Texas heat or a surprise storm sends everyone inside.

Having an indoor plan that is genuinely beautiful matters more here than people expect. Central Texas weather does what it wants. You should never be choosing between "wet" and "ugly."

What a wedding here costs

I hate pricing games, so here it is plainly. Our packages start at $3,700 for a weekend Courtyard Vows date and $3,200 on a weekday. The Grand Gala is $5,400 weekend / $4,700 weekday and adds table decor plus the bridal suite and groom's lounge for the day. The Royal Wedding is $10,700 weekend / $8,700 weekday and includes florals and arch, a bridal shoot, a day-of coordinator, an officiant, the rehearsal dinner venue, printed menus, and a three-hour open bar. Every package includes eight hours of venue access, tables and chairs, ceremony and reception setup, and cleanup — because you should not be stacking chairs at midnight on your anniversary date.

Getting ready in the house

One of my favorite things about a historic house is that the morning has somewhere to happen. There is a bridal suite and a groom's suite — real rooms in a real Victorian house, with good light and space for your people, not a converted storage closet with a mirror in it. Your hair and makeup team sets up in one place, your mom is down the hall, and the first photos of the day happen before anyone has to drive anywhere.

We do also offer overnight stays in the mansion — it sleeps nine, at $1,000 per night — and some couples add the night before so the getting-ready morning is unhurried. It is an option, not a requirement, and plenty of our couples never use it. For guests who are not staying with us, Seguin has easy hotel options a few minutes away off I-10, and downtown Seguin is walkable and pretty enough that out-of-town family actually enjoys the weekend instead of enduring it.

Why couples pick Seguin over the Hill Country

Distance is the quiet thing that decides a lot of weddings. Forty minutes from San Antonio means your guests are not making a two-hour round trip on dark ranch roads, your vendors are not charging travel fees, and you are not asking everyone to take a whole day off. You still get the trees, the old house, the porch, the quiet — without stranding anybody.

The part that actually matters to me

We are a faith-based, family-run house. I believe a wedding is a covenant, not a contract, and I pray over the couples who get married here. That is not a marketing line — it is the reason we take the heavy lifting off of you. You show us what you love, you send us your inspiration and your Pinterest boards, and we build it. Setup, breakdown, the timeline, the thousand small decisions. You get to actually be present at your own wedding.

Come see it

If you are comparing wedding venues near San Antonio, please come walk through this one before you decide. Pictures are lovely, but they do not tell you how the light comes through the front windows in the afternoon, or how quiet the upstairs porch is.

I'd love to show you around. Book a tour at theabbotthouseevents.com or text me at 210-570-3086, and tell me your date — I'll tell you straight whether it's open.
