I'm Madison, and I own The Abbott House at 907 N Austin St. I want to tell you honestly what an outdoor wedding here actually looks like, what it costs, and what happens if it rains.

What our outdoor space actually is

The Abbott House is an 1895 Queen Anne Victorian mansion, and the ceremony space is the walled courtyard right beside it. It's not a field and it's not a barn. It's a private garden courtyard with a brick and stone aisle, mature oak trees, a white fence line, and a real crystal chandelier hanging in the branches above where you say your vows. We hang silk florals on the arch and the tree, and the whole thing sits in the shade of the house.

The courtyard seats about 150 for a ceremony. Our overall capacity is 10 to 175 guests, so if you're planning something intimate — 30 people, family only — it still feels full and warm out there, not empty.

The other thing couples don't expect: you're not driving anywhere between moments. Getting ready happens upstairs in the mansion. Ceremony is out the door in the courtyard. Reception moves into the banquet hall with its pressed tin ceiling and chandeliers. Photos happen on the seven porches and the wraparound veranda. One address, one day, no shuttle, no caravan of cars.

The rain plan (ask every venue this)

Central Texas will do what it wants in April and October. So here's our honest answer: if the weather turns, we move you inside. The banquet hall seats 100+ and the mansion's main floor holds your ceremony without it feeling like a compromise. We make that call with you the morning of, we move the chairs, and we set it all back up if the sky clears for photos.

• Grand Gala — $5,400 / $4,700. Everything above plus table decor and the bridal suite and groom's lounge.

• Royal Wedding — $10,700 / $8,700. Ten hours, florals and arch, bridal shoot, day-of coordinator, officiant, three hours of bar service, and a rehearsal dinner space.

• The Dream, all-inclusive — $22,000. Twelve hours, 100 guests included, $99 per additional guest.

À la carte, if you'd rather build it yourself: catering $30–48 per person, coordination $800, bar service $25 per person for three hours, DJ $800, officiant $300, photo/video $1,000 for four hours, decor $1,500, silk florals $2,500, arch $350, extra hour $125, photo booth $500, overnight stay $1,000 per night.

One thing worth knowing: the all-inclusive isn't the expensive option. If you take Grand Gala and add catering, bar, DJ, coordination, photography, decor and florals for 100 guests à la carte, you're around $24,050 — and less is handled for you.

Why not a cheaper barn?

That's a fair question, and I get asked it. A lower rental price usually means you're the one sourcing tables, decor, florals, a coordinator, and a cleanup crew — and you're the one at the venue at 11pm loading your mom's car.

What we actually sell isn't square footage. It's an easier engagement. You send us your Pinterest board and your inspiration photos, and we build it. We keep luxury decor and in-house silk florals on site, we help you with vendors, and we do the setup and the breakdown. Every bride I've ever met has said some version of "I just want to actually enjoy my wedding day." That's the whole job.

We're also a faith-based family business. We pray over every couple who books here.
