Historic Wedding Venue in the Texas Hill Country: A Real Look at The Abbott House

If you have been searching for a historic wedding venue in the Texas Hill Country, you have probably seen a lot of barns, a lot of white boxes, and a handful of old buildings that look better in photos than they do in person. We understand. Choosing where you say your vows is a big deal, and you deserve honest answers before you drive an hour to tour something that was never going to be right.

So here is the honest version of us.

A real 1890s house, not a themed one

The Abbott House sits at 907 N Austin St in Seguin, about forty minutes east of San Antonio and right at the edge of the Hill Country. It is a Victorian home with the original wood floors, the tall windows, the deep wraparound porch, and the kind of detail nobody builds anymore. When you walk in, it smells like an old house. That is the point.

We did not build a venue and decorate it to look historic. We restored a home and opened it to couples. Your ceremony happens under a hundred year old oak in the courtyard, with a chandelier hanging in the branches. Your getting ready photos happen in rooms with real light and real character. Your first dance happens in a banquet space that has held a lot of family dinners before yours.

Who it fits

We host 10 to 175 guests. That range matters, because a lot of Hill Country venues are built for 250 and make a 70 guest wedding feel thin. Here, a small wedding feels full and a big one still feels personal.

We are also a good fit if you want your day to feel like a covenant and not a contract. We pray over every couple who books with us. We do not make a thing of it, and we welcome every couple who walks through the door, but if faith is part of your marriage you will feel at home here.

What it actually costs

No games, no "contact us for pricing." Here is where we land, weekend and weekday:

• Courtyard Vows: $3,700 weekend / $3,200 weekday. Eight hours, tables and chairs, setup and cleanup included.

• Grand Gala: $5,400 / $4,700. Adds our decor collection and the getting ready suites.

• Royal: $10,700 / $8,700. Ten hours, plus the arch, officiant, coordination, a three hour bar, and your rehearsal dinner.

• Dream, all inclusive: $22,000. Twelve hours for 100 guests, then $99 per person after that.

Setup and breakdown are included in every package. That sounds small until you have been to a wedding where the couple's family is stacking chairs at midnight. Not here. We also have luxury decor and in house silk florals on site, so you are not renting and hauling things you will never use again.

Common add ons: catering runs $30 to $48 per person, coordination is $800, a three hour bar is $25 per person, DJ $800, officiant $300, floral $2,500, arch $350, photo and video $1,000 for four hours, and extra hours are $125.

One more thing worth saying out loud. We have $1,000 off any remaining 2026 date right now. If your timeline is flexible, that is real money.

Is all inclusive actually more?

Not always. Build a Grand Gala for 100 guests and add catering, bar, DJ, coordination, florals, and an officiant a la carte, and you are around $24,000 with more phone calls and more loose ends. The Dream package lands lower and everything is already talking to each other. We will walk you through both honestly on your tour, even when the smaller number is the better answer for you.

The Hill Country question

People ask if we are "really" Hill Country, since Seguin sits on the eastern edge. Fair question. You get the oaks, the old downtown, the river, and the pace. You also get to be twenty minutes from New Braunfels, forty from San Antonio, and about an hour from Austin, which means your guests are not booking two nights and a rental car to get to you. If half your family is flying into San Antonio, that convenience is worth more than a scenic drive.

We do have a few overnight rooms in the house for the couple and close family at $1,000 per night, which makes the morning of a lot calmer.

What we would tell you if you were our sister

Tour in person, at the time of day you plan to get married. Light changes everything, and a 4pm ceremony in October looks nothing like a noon tour in June. Ask every venue what is truly included and what shows up as a fee later. Ask who cleans up. Ask what happens if it rains, and make them show you the actual indoor plan, not a sentence in a contract. Ours is the banquet hall, and it is genuinely beautiful, not a consolation prize.

And then pray about it. Dates open and close for reasons we do not always understand at the time. We have watched couples lose a date they wanted and land on one that turned out to be exactly right.
